Alaskan Black Cod or Sable Fish (sablefish), is an excellent source of vitamin B-12. It is also rich in Omega-3 oils, iron, and other minerals. According to the Alaska Health Department and Social Services, black cod can contain as much omega-3 fatty acids as salmon, which can reduce the risk of death from coronary heart disease by as much as 36 percent. Today, I want to share with you other reasons why I love this fish and share my personal coupon with you.
Why Black Cod Is My Favorite Fish
It is rich in nutrients that I need
I recently had surgery, which left me feeling light-headed in the morning. When I explained to my doctor what was going on, she had me tested for possible iron deficiency and told me if the problem persists, she will refer me to a cardiologist. The last thing I want is to see another specialist! So, I did a little research about how I can change my diet by eating more nutritious meals. When I found out Wild Alaskan Cod is a great source of vitamin B12, I decided to take a break from red meat. B-12 is also known to benefit your mood, energy level, heart, hair and skin, and memory. What not to like about all that!
Black Cod is buttery and flavorful
Just like salmon, you don’t need a lot to add flavor to black codfish. My favorite part is its naturally oily meat that falls apart after cooking it. Mainly fished out of Alaska and Canada, black cod is considered a premium-quality whitefish. For a deep marinated flavor, let sit in seasoning for at least two days.
Cooks in minutes
Aside from its nutritional values, codfish cooks very fast. I am talking 10 minutes on each side on the grill. If you are super hungry and you don’t have time to make a big meal, this fish is the way to go.
The picture above is what I mean when I said the meat falls apart after the meat is cooked. It is also juicy and melts into your mouth. And I have been feeling so much better after adding more fish to my diet. Even when I was not able to cook, both my mom and my sister made sure I ate fish at least twice a week. Now, my iron is almost back to the normal range, and I don’t feel light-headed anymore.

Oooh it does look yummy. I’m glad your health is looking a lot better. I decided to take a step back from red meat as well. I’ve never tried cod, I’m salmon kind of gal, but that salad sure does look delicious. I may need to add it to my ‘To Try’ list. Thanks for sharing doll!
