Washing And Caring For Crochet Braids

It’s been a week since I installed the crochet braids, and I am still feeling the tightness. My scalp feels itchy, but I am afraid to scratch because I know how sensitive it is. Tea tree oil mixed with castor oil is pretty good at relieving itchiness. I also like the tingling sensation after massaging my scalp with the mix. I know the hair still looks good and fresh, but I am ready to do some deep conditioning. I cannot stress enough on the importance of taking care of your hair while it is in a protective style. Always make sure that your hair is well cared for while it is being protected. Washing and moisturizing the hair regularly is the only way to avoid breakage and shedding. I used to think that wearing extensions meant that my hair is good and I don’t have to worry about it. Your hair is still thirsty, whether it in or out.

#WashDayExperience

{1} I massaged my scalp with extra virgin coconut oil while the crochet braids were in jumbo flat twists.

{2} I added a good amount of shampoo and  warm water in an applicator bottle and squeezed the mix on my scalp. I massaged my scalp to distribute the shampoo.

{3} I rinsed my hair very well with cool water.

{4} I wrapped my hair with a towel for about 15 minutes to make sure that no excess water was left on the braids.

{5} I spritzed my Garnier Fructis Trippe Nutrition spray on my leave-out part and between the cornrows/braids when my hair was completely dry.

{6} I added a little bit of castor oil for more moisture because the towel soaked up a lot of the water from my hair.

Hair of The Week

I mentioned on my last post that I was going to use my Apple Cider Vinegar, but I did not do it. I did not do my coffee rinse either. It’s been a while since I did any rinses. That is so bad! My hair felt very clean. I just hope that it stays that way until the next wash so I don’t have to co-wash in between. I will try not to use too much products to avoid any buildup. How was your wash day?
