Wash Day Experience: Washing My Twists With John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo
Hello Hair Lovers!
Can you feel the excitement in my voice? I am happy to report that I we’ve been dealing with some eighty-degree weather here in Georgia. Yep, it kinda feel like Summer already. It was about time when I washed my hair a few days ago. I used John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo, but plain cold water would’ve been fine because my head was on fire. Having my hair in twists and using extra hair to put it in a supper high bun did not help the situation either. It’s #washdayexperience!!!! Do you have a post about your wash day? What are you waiting for? Come share it with us! We are a bunch of positive women supporting each other’s hair journey.
#WashDayExperience
{1} There was no point in detangling nor pre-pooing my hair because it is in mini twists. I washed my scalp with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo and let the shampoo run down my twists while rinsing my hair.
{2} Tea anyone? My hair tends to shed a lot when I keep it in long protective styles. So, I applied the tea by itself this time, since no deep conditioning was needed. I left it on for 15 minutes under a plastic cap.
{3} I added my conditioner to my hair for about five minutes, avoiding my scalp. I must say that there was not enough conditioner in this little packet for my hair. I had to add a different conditioner to make it work.
{4} Of course I did my oil rinse! This routine has become a must for me. I know I was supposed to use the conditioner after I rinsed the oil out, but I am experiencing with a different way of doing it.
{5} I rinsed the oil out, let my hair T-shirt dry for about 40 minutes, then added my Cantu Shea butter to add more moisture and lock the twists.
I did not use any deep conditioner because I was afraid that it would loosen the twists and cause fly-aways. I skipped it and did a quick oil rinse instead. I used the John Frieda shampoo because my hair tends to be really thin in prolonged protective styles. I think my hair got a little volume after using it, but It’s hard to tell with those twits. I was just happy my scalp was clean and I could breathe again.
Girl I can relate to that HOT weather especially being in Florida & your mini twist are the perfect style to have in that kind of weather. Thanks for sharing!! http://www.healthyhairbyspecialk.com
Wow..honestly I've never had my braids washed before. These things cost to get done, so I always think washing em will ruin it longevity. lol!! By the end of two months, you know ish don't smell nice and dandruffs everywhere. So lemme understand this, did you wash the whole twists or just your scalp? I would imagine it will take ages for all to dry if you washed the whole shebang. Lol! Great post sis. 🙂
Green teal will definitely work Dianna! I use black tea, and I even use coffee sometimes. You can use pretty much any herbal tea that contains a high level of caffein.
Oh OK….cool! Will do that next time I get braids done. 🙂

lovely wheather! I don't know how you ladies do it. When I wash my hair I do not do any extras. Just shampoo and condition and that's it! hmmm, I must be missing something.
Interesting product this is the first time I heard of it. Come celebrate my one blog one year.

I sure envy your gorgeous eighty degree weather! Now, I can't wait for Summer to get here…:-). It's been raining all week in Minnesota.
I'm glad you enjoyed your Hair wash day.
Do you use specific tea to rinse your hair? I dont know if green tea might work.

Thanks, Beauty.
I only wash my scalp to avoid product buildup and dandruff, not the whole shebang:-)
Thanks for commenting.

This is the leave in conditioner I use in my hair. I love it! This is great for those that do wear braid, unfortunately I don't.

I should really try an oil rinse! I already use oil at basically every step of my wash day, ha.
