Hello Darlings,
There was a time when I did not think that reporting every wash day was important. Judging from the questions that you’ve asked me, I can tell that my wash day experiences are actually helping somebody. Thanks to all of you for participating.
It was time for me to take the twists down/out. I think they were up long enough. I have moisturized them so much that I could feel the product build-up under my fingers. I washed my hair with Fekkai Glossing shampoo this time using samples that I got from costco.com.
- Detangling the hair before washing it is good, but doing it after it’s been in twists for two weeks is crucial. Detangling before washing is the best way to avoid knots and breakage. I detangled using Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner.
- Shampooed with Fekkai Glossing Shampoo. I mixed it with a little bit of water because it was unusually thick. I usually don’t see thick shampoos like that.
- I rinsed the shampoo out and applied leftover coffee (from the night before) to my scalp, followed by my Africa’s Best Hair Mayonnaise mixed with honey.
- I left the deep conditioner on for only 30 minutes because it was late, and rinsed it out.
- I used Mane ‘n Tail Deep Moisturizing Conditioner in addition to the Fekkai conditioner to add extra moisture to my ridiculously thick strands.
- I did my oil rinse with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I sectioned the hair in four and added the oil to my ends first, then the roots. I rinsed the oil out with cold water to close the cuticles.
- I towel dried my hair for 30 minutes and used my regular L.O.C method routine + oiling my scalp with Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I put my hair in 8 twists and went to bed. It was 8:30 by the time I was done, but I started at 6:00 PM. Ahhh, the things we have to do to get healthy, beautiful hair!
I get to a point where I don’t even worry about not washing my hair with moisturizing shampoos anymore. I think some manufacturers just use the word “Moisturizing”to make us buy the product. If I cannot run the comb through my hair while washing it, that means the shampoo is not moisturizing enough for me. But that’s what moisturizing conditioners are for. I have reversed the way I wash my hair and it’s been working for me. I detangle with a moisturizing conditioner before I shampoo my scalp. This way, my ends are already prepared for the harsh chemicals in the shampoo. My hair was thin and over-stretched after my twist outs. Using the Fekkai shampoo did add a little volume and shine. I guess the olive oil in the shampoo helped a little bit. My hair shed a little, but it was normal after two weeks in a protective style. My wash day was longer than usual, but it was a successful one.

I agree with you Freda. That's why I don't use it alone. I always mix it with something else, after my oil rinse is better.

Fekkai is new to me too. I have to agree those companies just want our dollars. Creme of Nature has a good one thou
