Wash Day Experience: Co-washing My Hair With Alberto V05 Herbal Escapes Clarifying Conditioner

Since I was so tired on Saturday morning, I decided to do a quick co-wash using my Alberto V05 Herbal Escapes Clarifying Conditioner. The goal was to have a clean scalp without using any shampoo. So, I applied a little bit of my DIY coconut oil to my hair, followed by some of the conditioner. I threw a plastic cap over my head, wrapped it up with a towel,  and sat in the recliner. The plan was to leave the mix on for 10 minutes to make detangling easier, but I woke up almost two hours later. I was shocked! But I did start by saying that I was tired, right?

  1. I detangled my hair and rubbed my scalp for a few minutes.  I rinsed the products out using warm water. My hair felt funny afterwards.
  2. I was not planning on using any leave-ins right away since the coconut oil has been doing such a great job keeping my hair soft. So, I used some Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Conditioner to add some moisture to the hair and rinsed it out 5 minutes later.
  3. I quickly dried my hair with a towel and added a generous amount of pure coconut oil to my hair.  I twisted my hair and went about my business.

When I woke up the next morning, I managed to rock a 45-minute twist-out, which of course turned into an Afro. That’s all I had time to do since I was late for my morning walk before going to church. When I came back from my walk, my hair was a hot mess. It felt crunchy, frizzy, and unmanageable. I tried to put it in a bun, but I totally failed. A few flat twists helped until I came back from church. I quickly used the L.O.C method when I got home, followed by the baggying method before I went to bed on Sunday night. You name it, I used it. I continued to use the same methods until yesterday because I refused to wash my hair again.

LESSON LEARNED: Never fall asleep with a clarifying conditioner on your hair. I guess no amount of coconut oil could fix that messy situation. What was supposed to be a short wash day experience turned into a 4-day project.

Yikes chica! I hate it when that happens. Your next #washdayexperience will be better. Maybe a co-wash in between then and now would help.

    Thanks as usual for sharing!

Oh my, sadly it didn't turn out well, but can you fight nature? If you were tired, you couldn't help it and i am sure the power nap felt great. The good thing is you is, you managed to recover well from it.
