REVIEW: AmLactin Alpha Hydroxy Therapy Moisturizing Body Lotion

I received this product from  OWN – Oprah Winfrey Network- almost a week ago because I won their win on Wednesdays promotional challenge. I basically helped promote their network on my twitter page and I got a travel size bottle of a very expensive lotion. You think you would get a bigger bottle from Oprah’s people. Then again, who knows how many bottles they have to distribute? I have never heard of Amlactin before. When I saw the $3.00 coupon I knew it had to be expensive. It’s like getting a $100.00 coupon from COACH, which you can only spend on a $400.00 handbag.

Product Description

Size: 2 oz.
AmLactin Cream is a special formulation of 12% lactic acid,
neutralized with ammonium hydroxide, to form ammonium lactate that
provides a cream pH of 4.5 – 5.5. Lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid,
has been reported as an effective, naturally-occurring humectant in the
skin. It has beneficial effects on dry, scaly skin and itching
associated with this condition

My personal opinion:

Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Goes on smoothly
  • Bearable smell
  • Stays on longer
  • Hydrating

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Sticky

Bottom line:

I would definitely recommend this product to a friend. The average price for a 20 oz bottle is $18.00, but if you don’t use too much when applying it, it will last you a long time. I have severe dry skin, so I had to moisturize my hands every time I washed them before I started using this product. Now, I can skip the moisturizer after one wash or two. Am I going to use the coupon? Heck yeah!
