My Natural Hair Story

How it all Started.

I truly believe that when you ask God for something you should never
try to figure out where, or from whom that thing will come from. Back in
October of 2010, I asked God for long beautiful hair. I knew that
growing long healthy hair was possible, but I thought it was going to
happen like a miracle since I have already tried everything, or so I
thought. So instead of waking up with a head full of hair the next
morning, I found youtube and all the ladies who had the message that God
had for me.
I almost lost my scalp
My first hero on youtube was fgrogan.
She introduced me to Scurl “No” drip moisturizer and her Shea butter
mix. I followed her regimen from August 2011 until October 2011 when I
found Sunshyne who
swore by Jamaican black castor oil and Scurl “No” drip moisturizer.
Sunshyne’s message came in just in time because it was the time when I
had a bad encounter with an ORS relaxer for course hair. If you watch
one of my youtube video entitled “my hair journey 2012 and hair setback”
you will see how I lost my hair and suffered from alopecia, but I think
it was God telling me that He wanted me to wear my crown of glory. I
felt that God was telling me, “I am not just going to make your hair
grow,  I am going to make it grow fast and strong. I decided to go
natural because I had a gut feeling that that’s what God wanted me to do
because I had a strong urge to stop using relaxers forever.
I think I stumbled upon one of Kimmaytube‘s
videos back in February of 2011. When I saw all the styles she could
rock with her natural hair, that did it for me. I mean the girl could
wear her hair straight, in an afro, twisted, bantu knots, you name it.
To me she is the queen in the natural hair kingdom. Naptural85 also helped in my decision making with all her hair styles. And I will never forget SimplYounique; that girl’s natural hair grew like weed. She also convinced me to go natural.

My hair before the big chop

BIG CHOP

Being Natural has
changed my life and I will never trade my natural hair state for a
relaxer. I suffered from alopecia because of a bad relaxer, and I will
never put my health in jeopardy again. We sometimes wonder why white
hair grows faster than black hair. The answer is simple: white hair does
not grow faster than black hair, the only problem is us black women use
a lot of harsh chemicals that slows down the growth stage and makes our
hair dry and brittle, and therefore susceptible to breakage. We also
need to use more natural oil like jojoba oil on our hair since the oil
that our body produces cannot reach the hair shaft because the nature of
our hair.

I was waiting for a miracle when I asked God for Beautiful long
hair, but He sent me YouTube and all these wonderful ladies. I hope God
has sent you to this site for his message for you.
