How To Do A Light Protein Treatment on Natural 4c Hair

A Light Protein Treatment on Natural 4c Hair is recommended at least once a month. After experiencing first hand what too much protein can do to natural hair, I vowed to use it only when necessary. A light protein treatment was needed during my last wash day. The hair felt weak and I was experiencing serious knots. Maple Holistics Silk18 conditioner is my go to conditioner when my hair needs a little strength. I reviewed it here, if you missed it. It does not provide much slip, but it adds shine to the hair and nourishes it at the same time. Aloe Vera juice is rich in Amino acids. You can also use it to add moisture and strengthen the hair if you don’t want to overload the hair with protein.

I am back to using coconut oil after taking a break from it.  I used it to pre-poo the hair. The hair was shampooed with ORS Shealicious Cleansing Balm. The Silk 18 smells like vanilla ice cream and I used it as my light protein treatment, and Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish conditioner was used to add moisture back to the hair. Another Garnier product was added to the hair as a leave-in conditioner while the hair was still damp. My head smelled like a chocolate factory after using these products. I sealed the hair with my oil mix before calling it a night.

Hair of the week

My wash day went great! With minimal shedding and breakage, I think my current routine is working for me. I wash my hair as needed. I only use products that have worked for me in the past. And I keep my hair protected 95% of the time. What are you doing to retain length?

      Good morning Neti,
I did do the braids by myself. They are crochet twists. It was pretty easy….took me about 3 hours. A lot of you love the big hair, if only hubby could get on board! =D

I need to use more protective styles to help me grow my hair out. I am wanting to grow the sides of my hair, but it is slowly growing so air really need to find more protective styles that I like.
