Laura Mercier Flawless FUSION Ultra Long-wear Foundation & Translucent Powder

When influenster contacted me about trying the new Laura Mercier Flawless FUSION Ultra Long-wear Foundation, I was not too quick to say yes. I’ve always used powder + foundation and they have worked well for me. But anything by Laura Mercier would get me just a little bit curious. So, I went ahead and gave it a try. I received the 6N1 Truffle, which  is  a deep shade with neutral undertones, but it comes in at least 20  different shades. The formula is Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates free.  The price is $48.00, if you buy it at Sephora. This is Laura Mercier’s latest foundation. It promises to fuse to the skin with a weightless layer. It also promises to last a very long time (at least 15 hours), and provide a matte finish. This foundation had me at oil-free, but I was still nervous about the color. You know how it is when choosing colors online!

        My first impression of the foundation is that it is buildable. You can get a medium to full coverage, although it is weightless on the face. As you can see in the pictures below, I went for the full coverage. The foundation really does feel like a second skin. I did not use any primer. I started out by using my finger to blend it because I wanted to know how it felt on the skin. Then I used a foundation brush to finish blending it. It has a very smooth matte finish, with no caking.  I personally find the formula to be flawless. It does not run. The color is gorgeous. I think the color 6N1 Truffle will work great on any woman with a dark complexion. I find the 5n1 Pecan to be too orangy.  My only problem is that the foundation dries rather quickly. Other than that, I sweat right through that foundation and it stayed in place. That’s how good that stuff is!

Don’t be fooled by the color of the setting powder. It is translucent and it is the best powder to use to set the foundation. I used it right before using my highlighter and I loved the results. Overall, I am satisfied with both products. I will probably not buy the setting powder in the future, but I am in love with the foundation. It’s the first time I have used a liquid foundation and I am glad I did. I will definitely buy it in the future.
