What is washing your hair in sections?

Simply put,  washing your hair in sections is when you separate your hair into smaller, more manageable sections before you begin to shampoo it. You would then wash each section of hair one at a time until you have completed all the sections. This means you have to shampoo, condition, deep condition, and moisturize your hair in sections.

Why is section washing so beneficial?

Washing your hair in sections is the best thing that you can do to your strands. Because natural hair is so fragile, it can get easily tangled and breaks off. Washing your hair in sections creates less knots and prevents breakage. This method is especially beneficial if you have very thick or tightly coiled natural 4c hair.

  • It’s easier to shampoo and concentrate on each section.
  • You get better access to your scalp.
  • You will definitely have less breakage because you prevented the knots and tangles in the first place.
