Back to school shopping can be frustrating for both the parents and the kids. I cannot believe it’s been 3 weeks since the kids started school! Where did the time go? Kohl’s back to school program is a way to make shopping fun for both parents and kids. It is also a way to give back to the community. I got into this campaign via influenster. They sent me a Kohl’s’ gift card as part of the campaign and two boards for the kids to fill out on their first day of school. The kids and I love to go shopping for sneakers at Kohl’s. I think they have great prices on popular brands. What I love more is shopping the CLEARANCE rack. But last month was all about the kids and what they wanted to wear for the first week of school.
If you have children, you know how difficult it can be to get the kids on the same page with you when it comes shopping. My son is going to middle school, which can be both intimidating and exciting at the same time. Middle school is when they get to be more independent and opinionated. I wanted him to pick what he wanted to wear while I supervised. My daughter, on the other hand, was born independent and opinionated. She’s always known what she wanted to wear and what looked good on her. With the Kohl’s back to school shopping program, we were able to meet in the middle.
How To Make Back To School Shopping With Your Kids Fun
Get the kids involved:
Back to school shopping was fun for both the kids and me because I realized that they are at the age where they know what they feel comfortable in. I remember suggesting a pair of shoes to my daughter and she told me if I buy it, she will not wear it. But, that did not stop me from being the mom and telling them what I thought about what they wanted to wear. They picked what they thought would look cool on them, and I picked what I thought was good for them. And before we went to the register, we compromised on what would be good for fall and winter.
At the end of the day, a 9 and 11-year-old just want to have a say in what they wear on the first day of school. Kohl’s made it easy for us to find clothes that they will feel comfortable in. Now my son does not want to wear the same clothes he wore on Monday on Friday. He wants to have a different outfit every single day. The peer pressure is real, y’all! But my daughter just wants to wear leggings everyday, which I am okay with. As long as her top is long enough to cover her bottom, she can wear leggings until middle school.
Back to school Shopping is always overwhelming for parents and it’s great when it can be turned into wonderful memories. I enjoyed reading about your shopping experience at Kohls and nice to know that there was a beautiful compromise at the end of the day.
Lol 😆 to your daughter wearing leggings as long as she wants so long as the top is long…😂

Lol! Thanks doll
Back to school shopping can be a doozy! My oldest son does a great job of picking out his clothes, and my youngest son wants superhero everything, but my daughter seems to need the most help. And she’s the oldest! She wants to wear joggers and leggings all the time, but even with a long top, we have had to cut the leggings out in the teen years lol. Thanks so much for sharing these back to school shopping tips! I might have to go by Kohl’s to pick up some more things for my three this weekend! I hope they’re running a labor day sale, too.

labor day sale sounds good. Thanks, Dre.
This a cute sign for the kids on their first day! I did all the shopping by myslef and my kid loved what I got him.

Lucky you! My kids are at a point where they want to make their own choices.
My daughter wants to wear leggings all day, every day too…lol. My daughter has a few pairs of jeans that she never wants to wear. She even wanted me to buy her shorts this spring and I noticed the other day that one of the pairs still has the tags on them. She has never worn them because she has been wearing leggings all summer long…smh. But I know why they love leggings, they are pretty comfortable. 🙂

Right! I want my daughter to feel comfotable, but both hubby and I are conservatives. Nothing too short. Thanks Sonya.
What a lovely family you have. I had to wear a uniform for most of my early years in school. Kohl’s seems like a good choice to find kid and Mum approved clothing. I like your daughter’s book bags and tights.

I was born in Haiti, where wearing uniform was mandatory. Lol! Thanks dear!
