Five Ways To Style Your Fall Outfits Like A Pro

Nowadays you don’t have to be a fashion stylist to style your outfits like a pro. Outfit ideas are everywhere! And by everywhere I mean Pinterest. Yes, that’s my go-to place for outfit inspirations! Fall fashion is one of the things that I love about the season. Feeling cozy in my fall outfits is like a sweet treat. I also love seeing different colors and new trends that we can incorporate into our existing wardrobe. Below are some tips that I have learned over the years. Whether you are into fashion or not, these tips will help you take your fall outfits to the next level.

Five Ways To Style Your Fall Outfits Like A Pro

  1. Pick your colors wisely

Color is everything when it comes to fall outfits. Whether you are into olives, mustard, wine, or burnt orange, you need to have a color palette in mind when planning your outfits. I felt like I was talking food for a minute! Pick the colors that suit you the best. Neon is a big trend this year, but don’t let that scare you. The trick is to pair it with darker colors, like Prada did here. Or add a little tan! Also,  keep in mind that lighter colors make things look bigger.

2. Use more accessories

Hats, scarves, socks and boots are great additions to your fall outfits, but don’t forget the jewelry. When your hair is pulled back and you have that hat on, a nice pair of earrings will look really nice. That is if you are into that kind of thing. And just because you are wearing a scarf or a cape, that doesn’t mean you should skip the necklace. Wearing moto or a denim jacket doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stock your bracelets either.

3. Layer your pieces the right way

Layering can make you look like you woke up two sizes bigger. And it sometimes make you look disproportioned. That’s why knowing the right way to layer your clothes is very important. I don’t like to tuck my shirt in, but for someone with big hips like me, tucking the shirt in is a good way to make your layers look less overwhelming. And if you are on the plus side, remember darker colors work better on top because you don’t want your chest to look too big. I always start with lighter, short sleeves when I layer my pieces. This way I can remove pieces as the temperature changes during the day.

4. Mix prints and patterns

The very first picture is a perfect example of mixing prints. Plaid or tartan is a fall favorite. So are prints like leopard and floral. My tip is to wear them according to your shape. Horizontal stripes tend to make us look bigger, while vertical stripes are more slimming. Go with bigger prints if you are on the slim side. There is nothing wrong with mixing your floral prints with solids either.

5. Add summer trends

Your distressed jeans don’t only have to be for summer. They can also be part of your fall wardrobe. Just wear them over your fishnet stockings, or thick tights as we get deeper into fall. You can use the same trick for your summer skirts and dresses.

Fashion is supposed to be fun. It’s about looking in the mirror and loving what you see. Be confident and keep it simple!

Great Tips Sis! I can see you in that mustard sweater and the tartan skirt too. Thankfully we do not get frigid weather here. But we have to layer in the winter months because it can be 59 degrees in the morning and 79 by 4: 00 P.M.

I think the color tip is the best one. I’ve found I’ve had the best luck mixing patterns if I’m within the same color family.
