It takes discipline to start a weight loss journey. Even thinking about losing weight can feel like a burden sometimes, especially if you don’t have a friend or a partner to keep you motivated. Having a cheerleader is good, but you have to want it bad enough to get to the finish line. When I started my weight loss journey last year, all I kept thinking was how light I wanted to feel. I wanted to be able to fit comfortably into a size Medium again. Because as you can see, I was not doing that Zara top justice in 2013.
My Top Five Weight Loss Tips For Beginners
{1} Have a vision: You cannot achieve your goal if you don’t know what it is. Knowing where you want to go is the best way to start. Writing your goal weight down will give you something to focus on. You can start today. It’s never too late.
{2} Start with what you have: You don’t have money to pay for a gym membership? No problem! Walk around your neighborhood. Put some music on and dance your morning away. Open your food pantry door, take out some big cans of food, and work those upper arms.
{3} Give yourself Permission to be imperfect: Not a lot of us get it right the fist time. Don’t kill yourself if you gain a few pounds while trying to lose weight. We’ve all eaten the second piece of cake! Don’t put yourself on a strict diet. You will fail! Cheat days are your best bet, but don’t overdo it.
{4} Keep pushing: Excuses, excuses! We all have them. But don’t let them stop you. Remember why you started and how far you’ve come. Say YES when your mind says NO.
{5} Reward Yourself: Buy something nice for yourself every time you make progress. That will make things fun and interesting. And it will keep you motivated, too.
