Fitness Friday: How I Store My Salads In The Refrigerator

Hello Darlings,
             I am so happy to report that I am one week sober. If you did not read last week’s post, you have no idea what I am talking about. And it’s okay. I forgive you:-) Anyway, Friday is here again, and it will be over before we know it. Today is another opportunity for you and I to get things right. Eating more vegetables is one of the things that I am trying to get right. I mentioned how I get my salads ready to eat in one of my posts a few months ago. You can read the post here, if you missed it. Today’s post will focus on how I prep and store my salads in the fridge. Having your salads ready-2-eat makes if so easy to incorporate fresh vegetables in your diet. If you wait until you are very hungry to make your salad, you make get lazy and pick something else in the fridge to eat; like pizza, for example.

It’s Fitness Friday, girlfriend! 

                 It does not matter how you make your salad, as long as it includes fresh vegetables only. The important thing is to close your salad bowl tightly and keep it at the bottom of the fridge or away from the freezer. Keeping your salad in the colder part of the fridge can cause the vegetables to get saggy or even freeze. I had situations (during Winter months)  where my salads were so frozen I could not eat them. But I learned from my mistakes. You can add ham, turkey, bacon, or chicken breasts when you are ready to eat your salad, as these meats can cause your salad to go bad very quickly. Meats should be in the colder part of the fridge. My ready-2-eat salads usually last me up to 3 days, but they can last longer if you add a sheet of paper towel on top of the salad before closing the bowl to absorb the moisture.

    Wow great tips! thanks for sharing. I've had issues like this were my salad got frozen and was left with no other option since I don't keep much on my fridge. I have learned not to put salad on the back of the fridge but I never thought of using a sheet of paper towel to absorb the moisture….I'm glad you are now sober lol keep up the good work because I know it's hard to break from habits, good or bad 🙂

    Yes please forgive me, I didn't read last week lol. I am a salad eater but I have to admit a slice of pizza or two have fell out of the sky and into my plate a couple of times. And I'm not one to waste food so I had to eat it lol. Thanks for sharing!

    I just showed this post to my mom, she wants me to make her salad in a jar but I said this is another option for the days you don't feel like vacuum sealing (I have a feeling after I leave that'll be the last time she ever uses these jars! lol) Great post, thanks for sharing!

    I totally love your sense of humor Nerline and I love the illustration for today's post…:-) I do not like salads so much but I eat lots of fruits and sometimes let the pizza and cake fall in my plate by accident…:-) Bad habit; I know but that's why I read your blog for inspiration.

    Brilliant idea to prep your salads way in advance! I've been keeping mine in ziptop bags then mixing it all together then I'm ready to eat. Yes–I'm one of those weird girls who doesn't like it when her salads aren't freshly mixed together!

    I love eating fresh salad but when ever I make it ahead of time it just gets lost in our fridge and then the veggies go bad. I love the salad bowls that you use. Are they disposable? Where do you get them? This looks like a great way to store already prepared salad and I would love to try it! Have a terrific weekend!

    Yay for your Nerline, Im glad you achieve the goal of 1 week sober!:) Btw, I like to have salads too and, since I am vegetarian, I usually add nuts or tofu or mozzarella to make it more tasty! I keep it in bowls as well but it finishes soon!:) Many kisses and happy weekend xo
