Butter Basted Salmon anyone? If you read my previous post about Sitka Salmon Shares, you know I have a thing for their healthy seafood recipes. And to tell you the truth, they have been making life in quarantine easier for me. With the kids being out of school, I have to cook 3 meals a day. And running out of things to cook is possible when you have to cook 3 times a day! Today I want to share with you a savory basted salmon, served with steamed garlic spinach, and white rice. But, you can substitute any of the sides with your favorites.
Sitka Salmon Share is a convenient way to get seafood without leaving your home.
For as little as $119 a month, you can have enough fish to cook for the month, depending on the size of your family and how often you consume fish. You can also sign up for the premium seafood share, which is a little more expensive. This program is made possible by local fishermen. So every time you buy a share, you are putting food on another family’s table. I received the April share a little late because of what’s going on in the world. But, I am very satisfied with my share. This box contains more Cod fish than salmon, which I am very satisfied with. It also means that I will be making Pacific Cod Fish Taco Lettuce Wraps with Mango Kiwi Salsa!
Easy Butter Basted Salmon With Sitka Salmon Shares
INGREDIENTS
- ½ – 1lb salmon (sockeye, king, coho, or keta)
- 2-3 Tbsp unsalted butter for each ½ pound salmon
- Kosher salt or sea salt, preferably large crystals
Tips and directions can be found here
Butter can be added as needed. I also used parsley for garnishing because I could not find thyme.
The first thing I did was cleaning the fish by removing the white scale. Then I salted it as needed. Unsalted butter is recommended for this dish because kosher salt is one of the main ingredients. You don’t want the fish to turn out too salty. After adding the salt to the salmon, I let it rest for 20 minutes.
My butter was melted on medium heat. As you can see, I left my butter untouched; I did not remove anything. After adding the salmon, all I had to do was basting it by tilting the pan and spooning the butter over my fillets.
And Voila!
My Butter Basted Salmon came out better than expected. As you can see, my fish did not break! It was also very juicy, although the skin was crispy. I also forgot how little is required to add taste to salmon. It was delicious!
