Happy New Year Everyone,
2014 is here. Some of you already have your hair resolution written down. You probably have a list of hair products that you will keep, some you want to try, and some that will never make their ways to your hair again. For some of you a New Year probably means a new cut, low-lights or highlights. As for me? I am going to try more natural products on my hair this year, starting with the ones that I already have in my refrigerator and food pantry.
Last year, I tried a bunch of raw, all natural product on my hair. Some of them worked, and some of them did not. Just because a product is all natural that does not mean it’s going to agree with your hair. My hair is protein sensitive. So I try not to use eggs too often on my hair. I go for Plain Greek Yogurt mixed with honey when I need a light protein treatment, or every time I take my braids out to strengthen my hair. I love blending Bananas and Avocados together with a little bit of Extra Virgin Oil when I need an all natural deep conditioner that adds shine and moisturizes the hair at the same time. I use coffee to fight extreme shedding, which I am sure some of you are experiencing this Winter. Black tea is a great alternative if you cannot bear the smell of coffee.
My new year’s resolution for my hair this year is to have a hair regimen. I haven’t been keeping up with my washes. I stopped washing my hair on a regular basis a long time ago. My wash days used to be Tuesdays and Saturdays. Now it’s whenever I feel I need it. I also need to go back to having a hair journal. I need to keep track of the products that I use. It is a great way to remember what works and what doesn’t. Using more natural products is also on my list. I want to try new products made with 100% natural ingredients. They might cost a little more, but it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make if it means that my hair will be healthier.
Do you have have any New Year’s resolution for your hair?
